2024 Governor Former Edo Assembly speaker and others re-join APC

At a rally in Uromi, headquarters of Esan North East local government area, on Sunday, hundreds of supporters, including former Edo State House of Assembly Speaker Hon Francis Okiye, former PDP governorship candidate Hon Felix Akhabue, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Office of the Deputy Governor Hin Kingsley Ehigiamusoe, and thousands more, rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A few days ago, all three of them resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in protest of what they claimed was exclusionary policies implemented by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s government.

Emperor Jarret, acting as the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), welcomed them together with other party officials, including Sen. Monday Okpebholo, who is running for governor, and Hon. Dennis Idahosa, who is serving as his running mate.

It felt good to be back home, Akhabue stated. In addition, he predicted that the upcoming 2024 governorship elections in Edo Central and the entire state will be won by the APC, and that the defect was the first step in that direction.

“We had met, discussed, and asked the PDP government led by Governor Godwin Obaseki to address the issue of alienation, disillusionment, high handedness and despotism,” Okiye added privately.

The Obaseki-led PDP has just gotten a red card from the “aborigine” PDP because nothing has been done to fix the problem.

The party will benefit from my switch to APC, and my analysis will be straightforward.

Votes are important in democracies. Consequently, my departure from PDP is detrimental to the party, regardless of how others choose to perceive it. The Democrats in charge should be aware that they have lost my vote and the votes of many others who defected to the APC if they are indeed Democrats.

They lost at least 500 votes because of what happened on Sunday, and those 500 people also know other people who could join the APC.

“The house-to-house campaign will soon commence, and we will inform the people of the reasons they must abandon the PDP for the APC. A compassionate politician, not a businessman in the state for profit, should receive their votes, he said.
