The 2023 budget was approved by the House of Representatives, and it includes N30 billion for severance payments to departing lawmakers and the start of the 10th Assembly.
Following consideration of the report by the House Committee on Appropriations, lawmakers passed a budget that included this on Wednesday.
As the nation prepares for national elections in February 2023, the Ninth Assembly is scheduled to adjourn on May 29.
In addition, parliamentarians have received around N84 billion, with N33 billion going to the Senate and N51 billion to the House of Representatives.
Since President Buhari entered office in 2015, the National Assembly has received the most funding, totaling N169 billion.
The overall budget passed by the House was also boosted by N1.3 trillion. A N20.51 trillion budget was proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari to both chambers. However, N20.83 trillion was approved by the House.
The breakdown is N8,329,370,195,637 for recurring (non-debt) expenses, N6,557,597,611,797 for debt servicing, and N5,972,734,929,421 for a contribution to the development fund for capital expenses.
The National Judicial Council and INEC each received an allocation of N165,000,000,000.
