Nigerians are not as horrible as they are perceived to be in various areas of the world, according to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM.
This occurs when Nigerians received a bad reputation, went through a string of humiliations, and were subjected to a number of assaults outside of the nation.
Speaking at the official Akure Primerose Club opening in the state capital’s Alagbaka axis, the former member of the House of Representatives said it will take all hands on deck to correct the misconceptions people have about Nigerians, especially those who live overseas.
The incorrect classification of some residents as drug dealers and con artists, in Dabiri’s opinion, is one of the main issues facing the nation.
She emphasized that “What are we communicating? ” while urged Nigerians to constantly speak positively to the world about Nigeria and the outstanding deeds of Nigerians. What are we telling the world about ourselves? This is very crucial.
Dabiri-Erewa continued by claiming that Nigerians are decent people who are driven to succeed through perseverance wherever they go.
The NiDCOM Chairman stated that “the concept is that we cannot do it alone. We can create a better society if Nigerians at home and those abroad cooperate.
She advised Akure natives who are currently residing abroad and supporting themselves to keep up the good work they have been doing to uphold the reputation of Ondo State and the entire nation.
