Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, on Sunday fought back tears on live television as he expressed his resentment over unfavorable remarks political rivals have made about his family, notably his late father.

On Sunday, Channels Television and its partners hosted “The Peoples Townhall,” which featured Baba-Ahmed and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He described how he battled untrue stories about him and Obi.

“I impeached certain lies against him when I joined the ticket because I saw they were leading to that,” he claimed. Especially my level-headed excellent friend on the APC side.

They have halted. But my efforts to save Nigeria have come at a great cost to my family and me. They pursued me with a variety of persons.

Baba-Ahmed added that he would have been “a lot happier” if his detractors had left him alone, pointing out that nobody had ever criticized him before he entered the presidential contest.
