The Smurfs will have a major mental lift after beating the reigning champions, Club Brugge, according to KRC Genk forward Paul Onuachu.
The Wouter Vrancken team defeated their title rivals 3-1 on Sunday at the Cegeka Arena.
In the closely contested game, Onuachu scored Genk’s second goal.
For the Limburgers this season, the Nigerian international has now scored 14 goals in 16 league games.
On the standings, Genk sits 15 points in front of Club Brugge in second place.
“I already stated that this game was important. Onuachu told Het Belang van Limburg, “This game gives us a mental lift to start the busy period well.
Zulte Waregem will visit Genk on Saturday, and on January 17, Genk will travel to Westerlo before playing away at Eupen three days later.
