Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the primary attorney for IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, revealed that the Department of State Services, DSS, had turned down the one million naira provided for the agitator’s medication and food.
Mike Ozekhome, the head of Kanu’s legal team, allegedly raised one million naira and presented it to the DSS to buy Kanu’s medication, but according to Ejiofor, the secret police refused the money on the grounds that it may be used to buy the medications.
In a statement, Ejiofor said that despite court orders, the DSS neglected to give Kanu the requisite medical care while holding him.
“Though our erudite lead counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, immediately swung into action to press for the necessary to be done without further ado, it is important to point out that only a few weeks ago, a cash sum of N1,000,000 was made available to the DSS by our Lead Counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, to specifically be applied for the medical needs, and routine meals, of Kanu.
Unfortunately, the detaining authorities (DSS) refused to accept the funds, claiming they had everything necessary to provide for Kanu’s daily food and medical needs.
Remember how Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, had expressed concern over DSS’s failure to provide for Kanu’s nutritional and medical needs?
