Nigeria would benefit from my kidnapping, says Colonel Yandoto

According to Colonel Rabiu Garba Yandoto (ret. ), being kidnapped by bandits was a good thing for Nigeria.

Recall that Yandoto was recently released after paying a N10 million ransom after being kidnapped by bandits along the Gusau-Tsafe road.

After meeting certain bandit leaders the military had designated wanted, Yandoto convinced news reporters in Gusau that his abduction was a blessing for the nation.

He claimed that while being taken captive in the wilderness, he met with all of the wanted bandits, particularly those that were mentioned by the Chief of Defence Staff.

He stressed that they did not torture him and his two children, who were also taken hostage with him but were treated very nicely, and that they spoke about a great deal of things that he promised not to publish for the time being owing to a number of reasons.

The former army officer claimed that the bandits gave him the chance to speak because they recognized his status as a retired soldier and that they waited to act harshly on him because they wanted him to deliver some messages to the relevant authorities.

“Others are official, some are highly secret, and some are just regular messages. “Banditry will come to a stop if the Federal and Zamfara State governments can put into practice what the bandit leaders are asking for,” he said.
