President Muhammadu Buhari urged the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Tuesday to improve border monitoring and control ahead of the February general election.
Sola Fasure, the Media Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement in Abuja.
While inaugurating the Katsina NIS Command office and launching the upgraded e-Passport in the state, Aregbesola delivered Buhari’s directive.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that Nigerian borders be made impermeable to foreign groups that may wish to come in and manipulate the election process or participate in other nefarious actions,” he added.
According to Aregbesola, the President’s instruction is that the NIS should make the country’s frontiers impenetrable between now and the time when Nigeria completes all elections.
According to the kuryaloaded, the 2023 election is less than four weeks away.
