On Friday, he made the announcement that starting with the upcoming school year, tuition would no longer be required.
The governor, who made the news during his visit to Wukari Local Government Council’s elementary and secondary schools, said it was done to cushion the blow of the fuel subsidy cut.
He announced that beginning with the 2023–2024 school year, students in Taraba would not have to pay tuition for either elementary or secondary school.
To fulfill the needs of contemporary education, he restated his administration’s pledge to promptly initiate a comprehensive refurbishment of most of the schools.
Let me tell you that starting with the upcoming school year, the state government will be paying for your education and you will not have to pay anything to go to school, he stated.
He pledged that his government “will continue to support you in obtaining access to high-quality education in order to ensure a brighter future for our state.”
As previously reported by KURYALOADED the state’s governor has just declared an emergency over elementary and secondary school funding.
The tuition at the public university and the College of Nursing and Midwifery had recently been halved a few days prior to his move.
Daniel Nuhu, the state’s zonal director of education, was overjoyed by the news and said it will help change the lives of the state’s poor by providing them with equal access to high-quality education.
