Posted by There are currently 1,600 corps members of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream one stationed in Enugu State, where they will do their mandated year of national service after being sworn in by the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
Gladys Adama, the NYSC state coordinator in Enugu state, made the announcement on Friday during the oath-taking ceremony at the NYSC Orientation Camp in the Awgu Local Government Area.
She claims that more volunteers are arriving at the base camp.
She encouraged the recently sworn-in corps members to get involved in everything going on at camp so that their service would be a success.
Adama promised that after completing their mandatory year of national service, they would not have to spend time looking for work because of the orientation exercise.
The coordinator expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Government for their unwavering support of the NYSC programme there.
She pleaded with the state government to help improve the camp’s infrastructure, supply working vehicles to make it easier to examine corps members, and subsidise the corps members’ food while they are in orientation.
Governor Mbah of Enugu State opened the three-week orientation training and urged the corps members to stay united.
Mbah, who was represented by Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, urged the crowd to stand up against the enemies of social harmony and peace.
He explained that the bloody civil war had taught them that “the lesson we have learned from the bitter civil war is that we must resist those who hate us and make a conscious effort to diminish those things that divide us.”
The state government, according to the governor, would work more closely with NYSC to roll out youth-focused initiatives that provide training in skill development and combat poverty.
He exhorted the recruits to demonstrate unwavering patriotism, discipline, and allegiance to national ideas.
The governor promised that the NYSC’s concerns about the difficulties at the Awgu orientation camp would be given thoughtful attention by his government.
Corps members previously took their oath of loyalty from Enugu State Chief Judge Justice Raymond Ozoemena.
Ozoemena, who was represented by Justice Anthony Onovo, emphasised the importance of following the law during the service year and afterward. NAN
