Mr. Sabiu Sani, Chairman of the Projects Verification Committee in Kaduna State, has called for the arrest of contractors who have abandoned projects for which they have been paid.
During an inspection in Kaduna, he talked to reporters about how far along some projects are.
On the other hand, he advocated that the government be harsh with those of the contractors who have fallen short.
He explained that in order to fulfill the committee’s charge, members had traveled to the various construction sites to gather data in person.
A further quote from him reads as follows: “After interacting with some of the agencies and ministries, we were able to get the necessary information, including the actual status of the ongoing projects, completion, and financial commitments.”
He emphasized that substantial progress had been made on several of the projects, and that the new administration should organize them in a way that would allow them to deliver the mandate and commitment it made during electioneering campaigns.
He emphasized the fact that it is a mixed bag, saying that they saw some contractors accept money and then quit the projects and others go beyond the scope of their contracts.
