Posted by Mr. Kenneth Okonkwo of the Labour Party, LP, has called the Federal Government’s plan to pay impoverished Nigerian households N8,000 monthly “an insult to common sense and means to steal government fund in the name of poor Nigerians.”
On Monday, Okonkwo wrote a tweet on his Twitter account in which he accused the current All Progressives Congress, APC, government of arbitrarily arresting and detaining Nigerians.
Remember when the Federal Government announced a proposal to compensate for the loss of the fuel subsidy by giving N8,000 per month to 12 million low-income Nigerians?
But the seasoned Nollywood actor said that it wouldn’t be enough for the underprivileged Nigerians who struggle to put food on the table.
He wrote, “A government that begins its regime with N352 increase in fuel per liter, depreciates naira by 82% from the first day in office, borrows $800m (N650b) to share N35b to Judiciary, N70b to the Legislature, then N48,000.00 for a family of about six persons for six months, arresting and detaining Nigerians without trial, is a government that is anti-people.”
“It is not only an insult to common reason, but also a recipe to steal government fund in the name of poor Nigerians, to provide a Nigerian home a tiny sum of N8,000 a month that cannot afford a plate of food for a Nigerian. What can an individual Nigerian, much alone a family of six, do with a monthly income of N8,000? The current administration is both wasteful and harmful. This is the epitome of cluelessness on display right now.
