How many of the pledges have been carried out, almost a year later? Here is the complete text of the speech given on May 29, 2023:
Distinguished Colleagues,
It is with great reverence that I take upon myself the holy mission you have bestowed upon me. I will always love this country. Its people have my unshakeable faith. Also, unwavering trust in the Supreme Being. When we feel like we’ve exhausted all of our human resources, I have faith that He will give us the moral fortitude and direction we need.
Like our beloved country, this day is fearless and grandiose while yet being cheerful and bursting with spirit.
We have long since resolved as a nation to push beyond the darkness and into the light of rekindled national optimism.
Now we must decide whether to face our unfulfilled potential head-on or to stay committed to the mission of creating a better society.
There is, in my opinion, just one solution. We are too solid as a people and too magnificent as a nation to let ourselves be cheated out of our greatest opportunity.
The prayers of countless individuals and the shared sacrifices of all Americans have molded this nation’s path.
We have persevered through adversity when other civilizations might have crumbled.
