Lekan Adegbite, the minister of mining and steel development, has claimed that Nigeria’s size makes it impossible to prevent unlawful mining activities.
In an interview with AriseTV that kuryaloaded was watching on Tuesday, Adegbite disclosed this information.
In response to recent sector activity, the minister revealed that the current administration is de-risking the business sufficiently to draw in foreign investment.
“Preventing illegal miners in Nigeria is impossible. You have no control over anyone’s decisions, thus there is no way to prevent someone from deciding to engage in unlawful mining or other activities in a Taraba forest tomorrow. However, we are aware of our duty to watch over the industry since the Ministry has a satellite surveillance system that allows us to quickly respond to any illegal mining activity we spot.
