Ana Inés de Marotte’s body was discovered in her house after neighbors complained about a “bad stench” coming from her apartment.
Police were called to a residence in Santa Rosa, Argentina’s Airport neighborhood after neighbors complained about a “nauseous smell” emanating from the home for a week.
On December 31, when they entered the house, they found the deceased’s body, which her five dogs had devoured in part.
The 67-year-old woman was reported “disappeared” during the second week of December, but she was later discovered in the Santa Rosa Sanatorium and freed that same day, according to the Infopico website.
She had visited the Santa Rosa Sanatorium to receive medical treatment for a disease, and she was admitted despite not having any family in the area.
Marotte was released from the hospital, went back home, and was discovered dead a week later with her pets also locked inside the house.
Police were called to the house because of the revolting odor, according to commissioner Fernando Martn Cortez of Santa Rosa’s Second Section. When they entered the space, Marotte was already dead on the floor.
The victim passed away from cardiorespiratory arrest, and prosecutor scar Alfredo Cazenave confirmed that the dogs afterwards consumed a portion of her face and ears.
