Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Presidential Candidate
has expressed shock at the death of Prof Eleazar Ikonne, the party’s presidential candidate in Abia.
Ikonne died on Wednesday following a brief illness, according to the kuryaloaded.
He described Prof Ikonne as an erudite scholar of renown with extensive administrative experience, whose contributions to furthering knowledge within the academic community will be treasured by future generations.
“I vividly recall my last meeting with Prof Ikonne, when he led a delegation of Abia PDP stakeholders to my apartment in Abuja. Prof. Ikonne was at his intellectual peak during the heated debate I had with his delegation.
“We will miss his ever-smiling smile, wit, and sense of humour, which made him stand out.
“I convey my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, all PDP members in Abia State and the government and good people of Abia state, who were working on voting him into office next month. “May his soul find peace.”
