Operation Hadin Kai troops, along with members of the civilian joint task force, are said to have eliminated a prominent Boko Haram commander, Abu Illiya, and his 32 men.

The feat was allegedly accomplished during an intelligence-led aggressive fighting patrol in certain recognized Boko Haram pockets in Kayamari, Habasha, and Yuwe villages in Borno State’s Konduga Local Government Area.

Multiple intelligence sources revealed that the army’ superior firepower caused the surviving terrorists to leave in disorder, abandoning their property and weapons, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad.

In addition, the military recovered and destroyed 50 bicycles from terrorist hideouts.

Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the recently appointed Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai, committed to continue efforts to eliminate the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East shortly after taking command.

According to the new commander, all hands must be on deck to accomplish this.
