Olawale Ibrahim Ashimi, better known by his stage name Brymo, is a popular Nigerian singer and actor. He has apologized to the Igbos for an offensive tweet he sent about them.

This happened just hours after thousands of Nigerians signed a petition against the singer on social media. The petition was started by one Charles Ogundele to stop the singer from winning the 2023 All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA).

People were upset with Brymo because he recently posted a series of hateful tweets about the Igbo tribe in Nigeria. He even retweeted a tweet that said all Igbos are stupid.

Continuing, he said, “F*ck the Ndi Igbo. I don’t care.”

But on Friday, Brymo changed his mind. He went live on his Instagram page to apologize to the tribe in front of everyone.

He said, “I didn’t insult the tribe, and I’m sorry if it seemed that way to anyone.” He also said, “I was trying to give my opinion on a very important matter.”
