Buhari did not cause fuel scarcity; opponents made such stories – Mariya Baba, APC

Mariya Ibrahim Baba, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council’s Public Affairs Directorate, has stated that the recent fuel crisis was not caused by anyone on purpose.

Mariya further asserted that after President Muhammadu Buhari took office in 2015, fuel supply had improved.

She made the remark while answering questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday.

Mariya denied that President Buhari’s party, the APC, is to blame for the country’s fuel shortage.

“The issue of petroleum scarcity in Nigeria is not new,” she remarked. We’ve had it before; in fact, a worse circumstance. Things have gotten better. We had a Christmas celebration last year, and every filling station was free; we got fuel, we moved around, and everything was well. These hiccups occur from time to time, and regrettably, they occur at a moment when your adversaries will use them against you, which is regrettable. The petrol issue was not planned by anyone; we said nothing; we accepted it in good faith.

“This issue of petrol is not new in Nigeria; we have had major issues in the past. It has improved since President Muhammad Buhari’s arrival, and he is doing his best. A human being can never be 100% perfect, yet he has achieved 95%.

“So our opponents are fabricating stories and putting them around; they are not authentic at all. They’re all lies.”
