Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has asserted that his boss was responsible for rescuing Nigeria’s economy.
Shehu made the remark in response to assertions that Buhari’s administration plunged Nigeria into a plethora of issues that contributed to the current misery in the nation.
Shehu claimed in an interview with BBC Hausa Service that no previous administration had experienced the same level of financial difficulty as Buhari’s.
He pointed out that no administration in the entire globe is able to resolve every issue a country has.
If there were difficulties or issues, Shehu said: “These should be investigated to understand how they occurred.
“Due to our reliance on oil and falling prices, no administration in our nation has faced the economic challenges that Buhari has.
“There was also a pandemic of the coronavirus. Nations closed their doors, which caused the economy to crash. Alhamdulillah, Buhari was able to resolve that problem and restore the Nigerian economy.
The First Lady, Remi Tinubu, had already said that President Bola Tinubu had inherited a weak economy from Buhari.
She made the point that Tinubu is not a wizard but will endeavor to repair the harm done to the nation.
