President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly plans to sell five power plants to obtain N260 billion to pay the 2023 budget, according to former federal legislator Senator Shehu Sani.
On Wednesday, Sani revealed this in a message on his verified Twitter account.
With less than six months left in his presidency, Buhari’s N44 trillion debt burden has drawn his worry.
The administration allegedly aims to buy public assets for itself, according to the former lawmaker.
The Buhari-led FG intends to sell our five power plants in order to collect N260 billion in order to pay for the 2023 budget, he wrote, after accruing N44 trillion in debt.
“They will disguise themselves and send their business buddies to “bid” when they wish to buy public assets for themselves. They will choose their children, brothers, or in-laws to serve as the board’s chairman after purchasing the assets. The genuine buyer’s identity will become revealed after five years or more.
