The family of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder and CEO of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), has received condolences from President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by Buhari’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President feels the sorrow of the loss with the music and film industries, notably Nollywood and the throngs of fans of her career.
Buhari insisted that Anyiam-departure Osigwe’s had left a sizable void.
He reaffirmed the contributions made by the diligent and imaginative artist and administrator to the expansion of the Nigerian film industry, utilizing the award ceremony as a platform to engage and inspire people.
The president was certain that Anyiam-powerful Osigwe’s organizations, African Film Academy and AMAA, which she founded to identify and promote African talent, would continue her legacy.
Buhari, on the other hand, prayed for her soul to find peace.
In a related incident, Buhari expressed his condolences to Prof. Auwal Yadudu, a leading legal scholar and practitioner, following the passing of his wife, Hajiya Zainab.
Buhari referred to the death of a wife as one of the biggest pains to a family in his message to the former government advisor and dean of law at Bayero University, Kano:
“Please accept my sincere condolences on the demise of Hajiya Zainab Yadudu, a straightforward woman of integrity who reared polite kids.
“May Allah provide Prof. Yadudu patience and tranquility during this trying period, as well as to the entire family. He prayed for Allah to accept her soul.
