Olubunmi Adelugba, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has urged those who work in the legislative branch to put in their best effort and be effective in carrying out their responsibilities in 2023.
Adelugba also exhorted the personnel to concentrate on self-improvement and the acquisition of improved skills in order to benefit both themselves and the system. He made the charge during an Interfaith New Year Thanksgiving in the state.
Pastor Tunde Abdullahi, the regional pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and Alhaji Abdulfatai Olorunkemi, the imam of the Government House Mosque, both gave sermons, according to a statement by his special adviser on media, Odunayo Ogunmola.
Honorable attendees included managers, department chiefs, and other staff members who expressed gratitude to God for seeing in the New Year.
The Speaker also emphasized the importance of having a heart of appreciation to God for all the blessings and opportunities they get, especially the chance to enter a new year.
People are always recognized for the influence they have whenever they are given the chance to serve, according to Adelugba, who emphasized that there is never a period that is too short for any dedicated, visionary, and driven person to make a difference.
While pointing out that being diligent is always rewarded, the Speaker went on to say that those that excel at their jobs would be given priority for promotions or incentives, not the slothful ones.
The Speaker said that when she was elected to the Assembly in 2019, she did not consider running for a second term. Instead, she was focused on having a positive influence during her short tenure, which she was able to do.
I want you to pay more attention to yourself this year. Always ask yourself, “How can I improve as a person?” she added. How can I sharpen my talents and perform better at work? Make an impact and offer a solution.
“Ask yourself what you can do to improve your life. For instance, if you are a driver and you drive really well, people will recognize you since they already know you.
Speaking on the significance of giving thanks, the Speaker—who cited pertinent scriptures from the Bible—said that expressing gratitude invites additional blessings from both God and people.
“We must continue to honor what God has accomplished so that he might do more,” she continued. Equip yourself with compliments and allow gratitude to rule your heart. Never fail to express gratitude to those who assist you.
Pastor Abdullahi and Alhaji Olorunkemi urged the legislators and workers to leave a positive legacy while in office since they would be remembered for their deeds in their individual sermons throughout the session.
The clerics also gave everyone on staff the advice to put oneself in a position to be a blessing to others.
