Early on Friday, there was hysteria in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, over reports of the kidnapping of Mohammadu Buhari Jamiu, a Muslim cleric who resides in Ilorin.

According to reports, Buhari Omo Musa was kidnapped at his home in Ilorin in the early hours of Friday, according to a video clip that had the inscription “Buhari Omo Musa” in the background.

However, contrary to rumors that he had been kidnapped, research by kuryaloaded showed that the genuine popular and prolific preacher, Buhari Omomusa, is safe, hale, and hearty.

In the backdrop of the viral video clip, the wife of the purported kidnapped cleric could be heard pleading for help so that the family could pay the N5m ransom demanded by the unidentified kidnappers.

Another male voice from the video tape seemed to indicate that the ransom demand from the unidentified kidnappers was reduced from N30 million to N5 million after talks.

Fans of Buhari Omomusa were confused by the kidnapping situation and expressed concern and prayed for his safe return from the captors.

A scam intended to defraud the public and the government was described by some members of the public as the development, while others saw it as a case of mistaken identity brought on by similar names.

In response, Buhari Omomusa refuted the news on the radio station, claiming that he was safe and had not been the victim of a kidnapping.

SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the state police command’s spokesman, branded the video footage as phony when reached by phone on Friday.

The Alhaji Tunde Buhari who was abducted in the Oluwalose Community in the Oko-Olowo region of Ilorin has been freed and made public, he claimed.

Even the second victim who was taken hostage alongside Tunde Buhari has been freed, he continued.

The two victims that were freed were apparently kidnapped recently in the Oko-Olowo neighborhood of the Ilorin metropolis, the state capital.
