The kidnapping of train passengers at the Tom Ikimi Train Station in Igueben, Edo, was branded as vile and completely savage by the Federal Government of Nigeria on Sunday.
This was said in a statement made in Abuja by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the Ministry of Transportation.
“The Public is hereby reassured that the security agencies are making attempts to rescue the kidnapped railway passengers,” the statement said in part.
The Nigeria Police have mobilized to protect the lives and property of the remaining passengers and are on the trail of the offenders.
“Further information will be provided later,”
However, the government pledged to quickly address the unpleasant situation.
Recall that on January 7, some said herders assaulted the train station in Igueben and abducted several passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri. They were allegedly armed with AK 47 weapons.
