The inaugural strategic management meeting of the Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, was concluded with interfaith new year prayers for 2023.
All the area commanders, divisional officers, heads of department, and units were present for the service, which was held at the command’s headquarters in Ado Ekiti along Ado-Ikere Road. Prayers were offered for Nigeria’s expansion and development, the survival of the corps, and protection during the service.
The command’s chaplain, ASCI Ajibua Ayokunle, who led the prayer, commended God for his kindness toward the corps, Ekiti Command, and the entire nation. ACC Gambari, who serves as the top imam of the state, prayed for both the nation and the entire corps.
There was a moment of silence for the corps’ deceased officers and prayers for their families.
After the prayer, John Olatunde Fayemi, the commandant of Ekiti State, advised the officers and soldiers to keep working to show why taxpayer money should be spent.
In a meeting earlier in the day, Fayemi urged the officers and members of the NSCDC to be ready for the upcoming general elections. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and adherence to the code of conduct of security personnel before, during, and after the election in order to protect the country’s democracy.
The state commandant, who disapproved of the rising levels of indiscipline among its employees, issued a warning that any divisional officers or other employees who engaged in absenteeism would face disciplinary action.
