Shehu Sani, a former senator from the Kaduna Central district, has called Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s outgoing president, the country’s worst leader.
He said President Buhari’s eight years in office were a “waste.”
On Sunday in Abuja, during the presentation of activist Moses Paul’s book “The Nigerian Dream,” Sani made these statements.
The human rights activist claimed that eight years of Nigeria’s life were “wasted” by President Muhammadu Buhari. Furthermore, he appointed unsuccessful individuals and repeatedly renewed their terms in government. That is a terrible idea.
All [past] governments, he says, were corrupt. He blamed every prior government in Nigeria for the country’s problems. But his administration has been the worst in Nigeria’s whole history.
A unified and successful Nigeria, according to the ex-lawmaker, is possible provided its leaders “lead with the fear of God and a determination and commitment to fulfil your pledges.”
At the book presentation, Sani remarked, “It has been 63 years since our political independence, and when you go through the manifestos of Nigeria’s first-generation politicians, it’s about light, water, education, bridges, unity. And here we are, talking about the same thing for nearly 60 years later. So, in my opinion, the Nigeria of our dreams ought to be the one that we inherited, only better.
