Foreign powers are to blame for Nigeria’s insecurity, according to Buhari

President Muhamamdu Buhari has blamed Nigeria’s insecurity on powerful countries bent on destroying the country.

Buhari made the claim during a presidential lunch in Kano on Monday, following a visit of the state to commission projects overseen by Governor Ganduje’s government.

“One can clearly see how these foreign countries took on our weaker part of Nigeria, Lake Chad, where we have crude oil riches, and caused significant mayhem there with constant attacks,” he says.

But if Governor Zulum is genuine about his job, the tale of the territory around Lake Chad would be different by now, according to Buhari.

The President recalled that when he took office in 2015, just four of Borno’s 17 local government areas were not under the control of Boko Haram.

“And we are aware that people are utilizing fraudulent insurgents to cause issues, but most of these local governments [areas] are free today,” he stated.

The President went on to say that those behind the insecurities were aware that Borno had the potential to be a wealthy state. “That’s why, as governor, I traveled to Niger, Chad, and even Cameroon because you need your neighbors to thrive,” he explained.

Buhari, who congratulated Governor Ganduje on Kano State’s infrastructure development, also praised the governors of Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina, and Kogi states for doing good in their respective states.

The president also asked the elite to work on youth education, citing a lack of education as a concern.

President Buhari also made a joke about having several qualifications, including those of agony and delight, while reminding everyone that he was in prison and has run for president on multiple occasions.
