KRC Genk, a member of the Belgian Pro League, will set a record transfer fee of €6.5 million to acquire former Flying Eagles winger Yira Sor from Slavia Prague.

In the summer, Sor came very close to joining forces with Genk, but the Smurfs were unable to match Slavia Prague’s asking price.

When the transfer window reopens the following month, Genk is now determined to sign their man.

Genk’s €6.5 million offer for the player has already been approved by Slavia Prague, according to the Belgian news source HLN.

With the agreement, Sor will exceed fellow countryman Paul Onuachu, who joined Genk from FC Midtjylland for €6 million in 2019.

In 2022, the 22-year-old joined Slavia Prague from Banik Ostrava in the Czech First League.

Last season, the Nigerian played 41 times for Slavia Prague in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and dishing out nine assists.

His time playing for the Red and Whites this year has been hampered by injury.
