Yobe State’s Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved a N163 billion budget projection for the 2023 fiscal year.

At the West African Women Association (WAWA) Hall, Government House, Damaturu, the 2023 finance and appropriations bill was signed yesterday.

During the signing, the governor reminded those present that the budget, which has been dubbed “The Budget of Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Transformation,” is anticipated to put a strong emphasis on finishing up ongoing capital projects throughout the state.

He continued by saying that N163,155,366,000 total is allocated in the 2023 budget that was submitted to the state house of assembly to pay for both ongoing and capital expenses.

However, he revealed that the State Assembly has made some adjustments as part of its oversight duties, bringing the entire budget size down from more than N163.5 billion to N163,005,366,000.

He added that the 2023 fiscal year’s recurrent and capital expenditures were N87.8 billion and N75.1 billion, respectively.

Buni pointed out that the State Assembly’s speedy approval of the 2023 budget demonstrated a friendly working relationship between the two branches of the state’s government.

To increase the state’s internally generated revenue, he declared, “The state would finish all the ongoing projects, such as the Damaturu International Cargo Airport, Modern Markets, and Potiskum Trailer Transit Park.”

He claims that his administration will also launch new initiatives to increase employment prospects for residents of the state, particularly young people.

In order to implement the 2023 budget, he continued, “I wish to appeal to all public office holders, civil workers, and contractors to continue to follow the ideals of transparency, accountability, due process, and financial discipline.
