The Enugu delegation to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan was praised by the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam, for a successful Pilgrimage activity.
This was said in a statement released on Sunday by Sunday Celestine Toruka, the NCPC’s deputy director and head of media and public relations.
The greeting came after the pilgrims from Enugu had safely arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu on December 24, 2022.
At 9:30 p.m. local time, 300 pilgrims from the Holy Land arrived at the airport.
Recall that two weeks ago in Enugu, the committee had signaled the beginning of the pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan in December 2022.
According to Rev Pam, “The Enugu pilgrims had shown good behavior in the Holy Land and should be applauded for arriving securely and thoroughly.”
The cleric said the commission’s goal to achieve zero pilgrim absconding is bearing fruit because not a single traveler left the Holy Land.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to NCPC and Barr Nestor Ezeme, executive secretary of the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, for providing the pilgrims with logistical support while they were in the Holy Land.
The preacher expressed his hope that further groups of intended pilgrims will follow the pilgrims from Enugu’s excellent example.
Rev Pam added that while the wellbeing of pilgrims cannot be compromised, the commission will continue to make pilgrimage participatory in the upcoming year.
