Former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele has been accused by right-wing activist Omoyele Sowore of plotting the assassination of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and his family.
Omoyele said that if Buhari were to be indicted for crimes while in government, Emefiele would bring down him and his family.
He claimed that the prosecution of Emefiele would lead to the downfall of other politicians, including a number of senators and APC members as well as Buhari’s in-laws.
In a tweet, Sowore called the current allegations against the ex-CBN governor “the holding charge.”
Sowore claims that keeping @GodwinIEmefiele had nothing to do with the gravity of his high offenses, and that the game was to imprison him on behalf of the powerful.
If @GodwinIEmefiele were brought to justice for his “real financial crimes,” the tweet reads, “he would take down with him @MBuhari, and his entire family, in-laws, members of his inner circle, many @OfficialAPCNg leaders, state governors, Senators, media practitioners, military and police top brass, and even people in @OfficialDSSNG, @officialEFCC, and civil society.”
Everything would fall apart. Now they’re only ‘holding charge’ till the discussions are over and they can let him go!”
