The National Youth Service Corps, Katsina State, swore in 658 corps members for their one-year mandated service to the nation on Friday.
Justice Danladi Abubakar, the Chief Judge of Katsina State, administered the oath of service to the incoming corps members at the Katsina NYSC Orientation Camp in the state capital.
During the swearing-in event for “The 2023 Batch A stream 1,” Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari advised the members to focus on the cherished values of national unity, integration, and progress.
While identifying corps members as crucial agents of change, Masari exhorted them to constantly display the character of a patriotic Nigerian willing to pay the ultimate price if necessary.
Masari, who was represented at the event by Hon. Hamza Muhammad Borodo, his Special Adviser on Drugs, Narcotics, and Human Trafficking, reminded the new corps members that the general election is approaching and that they may be called upon to join their counterparts already in the field for electoral duties.
The Katsina Governor also urged corps members to join the government’s present effort in civic mobilization and sensitization of their host communities to some of the already established changes.
Earlier, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad, the NYSC coordinator in Katsina State, praised the new corps members for quickly adjusting to regimented camp life while also exhibiting a strong sense of discipline and responsibility.
