In Niger, 8,150 people have been displaced as a result of a bomb detonation

On Saturday in Minna, the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, said that the bombing of an area in Shiroro LGA was carried out by Nigeria Airforce aircraft.

The bombing of Galadima-Kogo and its surrounds in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area on January 24, 2023, displaced approximately 8,150 people and killed members of a vigilante group.

Matane, who refuted the story that the bombing was carried out by a mysterious aircraft, stated that the state government had discussed with Shiroro Local Government Council officials and the management of the North-South Power (NSP) facilities in the area that provide shelter for IDPs how to alleviate their current difficulties.

“We are performing an assessment to deal with the subject, and we are also dealing with the issue of people who lost their lives from the perspective of security officers who were mistakenly harmed,” he said.

He said that some deaths have been reported, while those injured are being treated in hospitals, and that relief materials are being prepared to be distributed to victims, while the government is also trying to provide security at IDP camps.
