The people of the many diverse ethnicities, tribes, and religions who are bound together by a shared history, shared interests, and shared goals are still respected in the northern region, according to Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar the third, the Sultan of Sokoto.

At the national Qur’anic Recitation competition’s conclusion ceremony in Gusau, Zamfara State, the king said that while there is a lot of variation among people, their shared values outweigh their differences.

I always remind people about our deeply ingrained philosophy on religious tolerance on moments like this, he said.

“Families of all ages, races, and religions may rely on these guarantees. No faith will be given preference over another in our opinion. Subject to the paramount requirement to maintain law and order, he continued.

“We are adamant that everyone should exercise their beliefs in complete freedom.”

It is appropriate for me to extend a special word of gratitude to all Christian missions on this historic day on behalf of my ministers and myself.

I’d like to leave you with a special message. On this important feast day, I send my greetings to all of our Christian citizens.

“By recommitting ourselves to the tremendous duties that lay before us, we should put aside our differences in faith and come together for a common brotherhood before God.”

“Leaders who genuinely believe in creating the nation, not looters who get to power in order to be served and revered”

When interviewed, some locals pleaded with the federal administration to improve the situation in the nation, pointing out that the vast majority of people were starving to death.
