A Friday mosque has been closed by the government of Kano State in an effort to defuse tensions between two competing parties that are vying for control of the place of worship.
According to reports, the trouble began when the newly-installed Chief Imam attempted to deliver the day’s sermon but was dragged down by some worshipers who supported the other Imam, which caused a fight among the faithful.
Authorities in the state have been forced by the circumstance to send security personnel to the region in order to safeguard it and restore law and order.
According to information obtained, the DPO in charge of the Bompai Police Station invited the two opposing sides in an effort to mediate their differences.
According to legend, Ahmad Ibrahim, a great Islamic scholar, built the mosque and gave it the name “Darul Hadith.”
