Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, stated that his team is still in the running for the English Premier League championship and that they are “inside punching distance.”
Klopp has changed his mind after previously asserting that Liverpool could not contemplate the title following a dismal start.
Behind Manchester United, Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester City, and Arsenal, Liverpool is currently in sixth place in the log.
After 14 games, they are 15 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal and will play Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
Prior to Monday night’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Aston Villa, Klopp suggested the Reds are not far from the league’s top teams.
The German stated that certain players had gained confidence as a result of the just finished 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and they would be eager to resume their winning ways.
We left a space between ourselves and the more exciting areas in the standings, but we believe we are currently within striking distance, therefore we must chase, and that is what we will do, according to Klopp.
“It’s crucial that all the players who have returned from the World Cup now take it seriously.
“I believe some of them may actually increase their self-assurance, even though it was probably not that low before, but a successful World Cup, like for Hendo [Henderson], for instance, is undoubtedly beneficial.
So even though we know it will be intense, we are incredibly excited about what is to come. There are no guarantees in life, but I can only imagine how excited everyone is at Arsenal to play against [Manchester] City after seeing their aspirations and goals.
