Tottenham Hotspur signed James Maddison to a five-year contract worth £40 million on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old midfielder comes from relegated Leicester City on a contract that will last until 2028.
Leicester City had no choice but to cash in on their key midfielder, whose contract expires in only a year, after facing a promotion battle back to the English Premier League.
The exquisite English midfielder is a devoted supporter of his previous team.
While Leicester City was struggling last season, Maddison still managed to record 10 goals and nine assists in the EPL.
Maddison, who joined Leicester from Norwich City in 2018, has made the most of his time there.
He appeared in 203 games for the Foxes, scoring 55 goals. While with Leicester, he won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
The former number 10 becomes Spurs’ third signing and the eighth senior player to leave relegated Leicester.
He has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top attacking midfielders over the course of five seasons.
Maddison is also well-versed in statistics. The statistics show that the elite exist. Since joining Leicester, Maddison has generated the third-most opportunities in the Premier League, trailing only Kevin De Bruyne and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
