Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, has criticized the state’s natural riches in Ogun Waterside Local Government for being ignored and not being used by the local, state, or federal governments.
When used, the local government has enough economic potential, according to Daniel, who said that it is urgently necessary for all levels of government to exploit the immense natural riches lying idle in Ogun Waterside.
During his ward-to-ward campaign visit, the former governor addressed on Friday at Abigi, the Ogun Waterside Local Government’s administrative center.
Daniel is the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) senatorial candidate in Ogun East, which includes the nine local governments of Ijebu and Remo.
The APC candidate spoke to his supporters and recalled “the different efforts” he made while serving as governor of Ogun to “initiate initiatives of tremendous economic significance to the state in particular and the nation at large.”
In addition to OK LNG, the Deep Sea Port, and the Gateway Industrial Petro-Gas Institute, Daniel mentioned the Olokola Free Trade Zone initiative (GIPI).
“We started these initiatives because we knew this local government has the deepest harbor in Nigeria, which could house extremely large ocean liners without needing to be dredged,” he stated.
Additionally, we share a large bitumen resource with Ondo State. Without a doubt, this outstanding local government is responsible for the economic future of Ogun State and even Nigeria. Our task in Abuja would be to pressure the federal government to review and go forward with the projects.
On Monday, Daniel started his tour of the local government, meeting locals, party supporters, leaders of the community, and other important players.
The campaign train canvassed votes for the APC and all of its candidates in each of the local government’s 10 wards.
