The nation’s Armed Forces and other security services, according to Senate President Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan on Friday, deserve the prayers and support of all Nigerians in view of their heroic efforts to secure the country.

After a special Jumma’at prayer held at the National Mosque in Abuja for the celebration of Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Lawan made the call.

President Muhammadu Buhari was represented at the event by the Senate President.

“This is a particular prayer devoted to the Armed Forces of our country,” Lawan told reporters after the event.

And as you probably well know, the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other security organizations in this nation work incredibly hard to keep the nation safe and secure. They do so with dedication, patriotism, and a sense of duty and obligation.

“It is our responsibility as citizens to constantly pray for them and to provide them with the assistance they need and deserve.

“Those of us in government, and I’m here and speaking as the President’s representative, we owe it to the nation, the Armed Forces, and other security agencies to make sure that we provide the sort of resources they need to continue providing security and safety in our country.

“As a government and as a country, we must always prioritize funding and making resource support for the Armed Forces and other security agencies a top priority, even though resources may not always be sufficient.

By God’s Grace, we will continue to accomplish this. Other citizens should also keep praying for our armed forces because they need all the help they can get.

“Despite the fact that we have never given them enough, they have given us a top-notch performance, I say this with the utmost sense of responsibility.

Some of them suffer fatalities as a result. Some are disabled and maimed, so we must do everything in our power to ensure that they are respected, that we pray for them, and that we provide them any knowledge we can that will help them do a better job
