Posted by Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta, has denied opposing the movement of the South to pick the next President in 2023.
Olisa Ifeajika, the PDP’s chief press secretary, spoke on Monday on behalf of the party’s vice presidential candidate.
According to Ifeajika, Okowa respected the PDP’s decisions on the presidential convention, as he informed reporters in Asaba.
The Southern Governors’ Forum decided to work toward the establishment of a southern presidency following meetings in Asaba, Lagos, and Enugu.
Ifeajika observed that their choices for candidates differed when they returned to their various parties.
According to the spokesperson, the PDP made it plain to the governors that it might not support their position.
He remembered how the issue led to the creation of a committee under the leadership of Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue, to provide adequate guidance on the zoning of the ticket.
The committee suggested doing away with zoning to enable all candidates to take part in the primary.
“As far as we know, none of the governors or the group objected to the party’s choice. They agreed with the party’s zoning judgment.
No agreement was made, so there was no betrayal anywhere. Delegates at the primaries voted as they pleased because the party’s perspective won out, Ifeajika said.
