Doyin Okupe, a former director general of the Labour Party Campaign Council, congratulated Prof. Akin Oshuntokun on being named as his successor.

Okupe had resigned from his post as the Obi-Datti campaign director on December 20 after being found guilty of violating the Money Laundering Act by an Abuja Federal High Court.

But on Tuesday, the party chose Oshuntokun, a former assistant to Olusegun Obasanjo, to lead its campaign.

In response, Okupe expressed confidence that Oshuntokun would fulfill his promise in a message on his official Twitter account.

Okupe claimed that the new DG had been an ardent supporter and founding member of the Obidient movement.

“I received the news that my brother, bosom friend, staunch ally, and confidant, Prof. Akin Oshuntokun, has been appointed as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organization,” the post states.

“From the beginning, Oshuntokun has been a dedicated and fundamental part of this wonderful movement. I wish him luck.

He worked as a political advisor to the late President Olusegun Obasanjo and directed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP2011 )’s presidential campaign.
