The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has accused the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, of sponsoring violence. This accusation has been characterized as baseless, deceptive, and simply intended to hurt the former governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) members and leaders in the state.
Chief Kola Olabisi, the state’s APC director of media, said in a statement on Saturday that the intended target had been missed and that the claim that Oyetola had been the victim of violent acts sponsored by someone was a fabrication created with malicious intent.
In a meeting with Osun stakeholders on Friday, Adeleke claimed that since the entrance of his predecessor, Oyetola, on Monday, January 2, 2023, violence had returned to the state.
Oyetola had returned to Osun on Monday for the launch of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Committee of the APC in the state, amid thunderous applause from his fans.
The inauguration served as the APC’s official launch of its campaign for the state’s 2023 presidential and House of Assembly elections.
Olabisi stated that everyone knew that the PDP and peace were like day and night, hinting that it was odd that Governor Adeleke and his handlers could act as peacemakers, giving speeches and preaching about peace.
Olabisi urged the residents of the state to exercise caution around the state’s ruling party since they have a history of inciting fear and using the helpless as scapegoats.
“Oyetola is a peaceful man, as seen by his cordial behavior during and after the most recent governorship election.
After the obviously manipulated election that produced Adeleke, Osun would have gone through another “Operation wetie” if Oyetola had been as aggressive as Adeleke and his supporters.
Olabisi urged Adeleke to persuade his supporters to halt their cruelty while advising him to refrain from inflaming the political climate with false alarms intended to protect his oppressive rule.
He added that the terrible endeavor has the potential to throw the hitherto tranquil state into unnecessary political instability if it is not stopped.
