Palliative subsidies: the APC government doesn’t respect Nigerians as people, says Dele Farotimi

Dele Farotimi, a lawyer and political commentator, has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has ignored regular Nigerians in favor of the oil and gas industries.

Farotimi criticized the ruling party in an interview with Arise Television on Thursday, focusing on the purported N70 billion in proposed palliatives for members of the National Assembly.

He claims that the Federal Government has proposed “essentially nothing” to the public while allocating N70 billion for fewer than 500 people.

He said that there is a divide between the federal government and the people, and that the APC lacks the will to better the lives of Nigerians, because the measures have not effectively addressed residents’ problems.

Nothing makes sense in Nigeria anymore,” he lamented. Now, all we care about is staying alive. The government of Nigeria doesn’t respect its citizens as people. We are not being treated as human beings, let alone as citizens.

What type of mentality or thought rules a society when N70 billion is budgeted for less than 500 individuals and then the government distributes what is virtually nothing to so many people? Let’s consider that.

They’ll want more money from us before the end of the month. The government has become the enemy of the people, and we must rise above our petty disagreements to address these vital threats. They are forcing us into servitude through the law.
