Paul Merson tells Arsenal to make two acquisitions right away and expresses concern regarding Vieira

Paul Merson, a former player for Arsenal, has encouraged the club to “quickly” sign two players during the January transfer window.

Merson also expressed his dissatisfaction with the £34 million acquisition of Fabio Vieira from Porto in the previous summer.

In order to strengthen the depth of their team for the remainder of the season, Arsenal is eager to support manager Mikel Arteta with additional funds in January.

Merson wants the Premier League’s top team to send two new players to Emirates Stadium, including Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Merson told the Daily Star, “I think Arsenal needs two additions this January; they have to go out and get immediately.”

“I saw them play against Newcastle, and they were at a loss for words. Don’t get me wrong, Newcastle played excellent defense and it was difficult to go past them, but you need to be able to switch things up.

There weren’t any new legs. Fabio Vieira cost them £34 million, but they still haven’t started using him. That was the worrying aspect for me.

“I wouldn’t simply remark that they needed new legs; I’d add that they also needed new minds. There was no deception or distinction.

“Arsenal must give Mykhaylo Mudryk and Shakhtar Donetsk a deadline. It should now be “take it or leave it” since they have offered £62 million and the January transfer window is about to close.
