Akin Osuntokun, a former political adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, has been named the new director general of the Labour Party, LP’s presidential campaign.
In Abuja on Tuesday, the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, reaffirmed this.
The choice was made following thorough discussions with all party stakeholders, according to Abure.
Doyin Okupe, who resigned from her position last week, will now be replaced by Osuntokun.
After being found guilty of money laundering by the federal high court, Okupe resigned from his job.
He was given a two-year prison term by the court, but he had the option of paying a total fine of N13 million of N500,000 for each offence.
Okupe decided to pay the fine following the judgment.
