Following a crucial meeting with co-owner Behdad Eghbali, Chelsea manager Graham Potter is expected to avoid being fired this season, according to the UK Metro.
After Thomas Tuchel was fired in September, Potter only took over.
With a nine-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League and Champions League, the former Brighton manager got off to a tremendous start.
However, Chelsea’s performance began to deteriorate around the end of October. The Blues were trounced 4-1 by Brighton before falling to Arsenal 1-0.
Then, Potter’s team lost to Manchester City 2-0 and Newcastle United 1-0, sending them both out of the Carabao Cup.
Potter was under fire as a result of the bad run as the Blues dropped to seventh position on the standings before the World Cup.
The league returns on Tuesday with Chelsea playing Bournemouth.
Under former owner Roman Abramovich, the club had a reputation for being merciless with managers. However, since Todd Boehly acquired the club in the summer, the club is aiming to change its approach and wants to give Potter time to adjust to his new position.
During the World Cup, Potter traveled to California to meet Eghbali, who gave him the assurance that his long-term career is secure.
