An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti has directed all parties in the petition brought by former Speaker Gboyega Aribisogan challenging his impeachment to file all pending papers before a definitive hearing of the matter.

The order was issued by Justice Adekunle Adeleye, who expressed willingness to hear the defendant’s preliminary objection and counter-affidavit, as well as the motion of the claimants in the matter, at the court’s meeting on Wednesday.

The first, second, and third defendants in the claim are the Ekiti State House of Assembly, the Clerk of the House of Assembly, and Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba, the new Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Justice Adeleye, who expressed a desire for the suit to be heard as soon as possible, urged defendants’ counsel to file a counter-affidavit, which he said will be heard alongside the preliminary objection.

The Court then gave the claimant until February 7 to file his answer to the defendants’ counter-affidavit.

The defendants, on the other hand, were awarded an extension of time until February 1 to file their counter-affidavit to the claimant’s originating summons.

The case was then deferred until February 8 for a definitive hearing.
