Professor Adekunle Oloki, a university dean residing in the US, has claimed that his ex-wife, Kafayat, has forbidden him from seeing their daughter.
Oloki had brought his ex-wife, who is currently wed to Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, the Ataoja of Osogboland, before an Erin-Osun Customary Court.
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, when the hearing resumed, he informed the court that ever since she took their daughter to the palace, his ex-wife had refused to allow him to see her.
However, Oloki had abandoned his daughter, according to the defendant’s attorney, S. B. Ajibade, who also claimed that Oloki had not exhibited any sincere interest in seeing his daughter.
The assertion that the plaintiff’s client hasn’t made an effort to talk to his daughter is incorrect, according to Asafa Olaore, the plaintiff’s attorney.
Olaore said that Kafayat, the girl’s mother, had repeatedly rebuffed attempts to speak with the girl.
Despite the lawyer’s assertion that access need not be direct, the mother forbade the plaintiff from speaking to his child at all.
When the case was postponed until February 27, 2023, for a hearing, the court’s president, K. B. Adeyinka, recommended both attorneys to resolve the access issue among themselves.
