Posted by Rajab Mohammed, the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists’ (NUJ) Yobe State Committee, declined to join the APC presidential campaign council.
Rajab Mohammed was mentioned as one of the members of the Media and Publicity Directorate of the Yobe APC Presidential Campaign Council in a copy of a letter obtained by kuryaloaded dated December 13, 2022 and signed by the APC campaign’s Director of Media, Bayo Onanuga.
Rajab, however, clarified that the ethics of the media profession do not permit him to accept such an appointment or serve on such a committee in a statement made to newsmen in Damaturu on Tuesday.
In order to avoid appearing to support a political party, he said, “I must remain unbiased as a journalist. Accepting to serve on the council would undermine my honesty.”
The NUJ Yobe state chairman pledged to provide the council with expert counsel if necessary.
